Working on tiny blocks!

At a quilting retreat last summer, a lady was making a quilt with the Spring Meadow line from Moda. She was throwing away all the little triangles she was trimming from her blocks! Yikes, I asked if I could have the ones in her trash can and she said yes. Then she started saving all of them for me. Anyway, last month I sewed all the little triangles, a print triangle with a white triangle. Yesterday I began pressing them and squaring the little block. It measures 1 3/4" per little square. I know.........I am crazy, but I just had to do something with these little things. Today I have been sewing 4 blocks together to make pinwheels that will be a 3" square. I will have 30 of these 3" squares. I think I will put strips around each block and then put them together. It will be the size of a doll quilt and just right for a small spring wallhanging. Will post a pic when the quilt is all together. Not saying when that will be!!!
Get right over to www.simplythisthatandtheother.blogspot.com and sign up for her new giveaway! She is giving away an awesome tablerunner and some other goodies. Tell her I sent ya!
Back to stitching a few more squares before I turn in for the night.

Postcard Holder

Finally, I have a photo to share. This is a postcard holder that my sister made and gave to me several years ago. The postcards are vintage with postmarks from 1903 and 1908. The third card doesn't have a postmark. The cards are from my Grandfather's sister. Seems that back in the day, it was the thing to send postcards to your friends, even when they lived in the same town. I have several more vintage cards from the same aunt and they are very special to me and the pictures are so fun to look at. There is probably a pattern online somewhere if you would like to make one for yourself.

The weather here today was just great. The Bradford Pear trees are in bloom so I guess spring is here!

Siggy Blocks

I signed up for Cootie Bug 2's siggy swap and have finished sewing the block, and squared them up. I stamped a Longaberger basket stamp on the siggy part. Tomorrow I will sign all the blocks, heat set them and then get them in the mail.

Thank you Connie for the fun swap. I enjoyed making the blocks.

Since I need to set my clock ahead, so as not to be late for church, I am ready to close up the sewing studio!

I realize it is much more fun to have a pic to post, but am just too tired tonight to do it.

Good night to all!

Thanks to Vickie E, I now know how to upload pics to my blog. Aren't quilt friends just the best? This is the pincushion I made for her when I went to visit her in February. I forgot to take a picture, so this is the one from her blog. Now I need to make one for myself...........oh another day!

First Post

This is my very first post on my blog. Haven't figured out how to add photos yet, so this will have to do!

Quilting is my love, besides my family and friends! I have a large stash to work from. But as all good quilters know, we add to it from time to time! I was able to do that on my trip to OH to visit my sister and 4 other quilt friends! When a fabric shop has 50% off of all their fabrics, it is wise to buy. These weren't old fabric either..........charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes and yardage from the new fabrics out. It was so much fun to pick some Kaffe Fassette fabrics, that 3 of us split, a little Mary Engelbreit charm with some yardage to go with, and a few other things.

As soon as I am able, I will be adding photos of quilts I have made.

Off to check my blogs that I read and facebook.
